In case of emergency, you just need to open the cap, release the antenna and hold the red distress button for 5 seconds and Your GPS position accurate to 1.5 metres and a man overboard distress message will be broadcast to all AIS equipped ships up to 34 miles away as well as a special DSC message to the marine radio on your own vessel.
This radio beacon is NOT an EPIRB/PLB and does not have the same functionalities. The emergency signal sent by this device, even if received by a third party, does not guarantee the activation of the rescue chain or SAR services.
